About the Artist

Sterling Moone is a California-based multidisciplinary artist working across painting, collage, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, jewelry, lapidary, and mixed media. Entirely self-taught, Moone views each medium as its own language, choosing materials based on the needs of an idea rather than limiting the work to a single style or discipline.

Influenced by Expressionism and Dada, Moone creates work that explores the psychological and social forces shaping modern life. Questions of identity, politics, collective behavior, and cultural absurdity are woven into layered compositions that shift between abstraction and representation. Humor, fragmentation, and unexpected juxtapositions are used not simply for visual effect, but as ways to question assumptions and invite viewers to arrive at their own interpretations.

Much of Moone's work exists in the space between order and chaos, where contradiction becomes a source of discovery and unconventional ideas are treated as opportunities rather than obstacles. Through an intuitive process and a willingness to experiment with materials, each piece resists easy conclusions, encouraging curiosity, reflection, and conversation.

Working independently, Moone has exhibited throughout California in art fairs, festivals, and pop-up exhibitions. The practice continues to evolve through experimentation, accessibility, and an ongoing interest in the relationship between artist, artwork, and audience.
